Biography

Daniel Battle was initially taught the Organ by Rosemary Nayyer. During his time at school, he toured Northern Italy and the Czech Republic, playing concerts in St Nicholas' Church in Prague and Chiesa del Santissimo Redentore in Venice, as well as playing Mass at Basilica di San Marco. Venice. In 2003, Daniel left the South for Bangor, Gwynedd, to study music at the University, specialising in Church Music. At Bangor he studied the organ with Graham Eccles, who was at that time Organist and Director of the Choristers at St Asaph Cathedral. As he began his studies, Daniel was appointed Organ scholar at the Cathedral of St Deiniol, Bangor. The highlight of his career at Bangor is when he recorded a CD entitled Mae'r cyfan yn gân for the Sain Label with Hogia'r Ddwylan.

After Graduating, Daniel was appointed Organ Scholar at Southwell Minster, the Cathedral Church for the Anglican Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham, and there studied the organ with Paul Hale. Alongside his duties in the Cathedral, Daniel was accompanist for the Cranmer Company of Singers, who undertook several Cathedral visits, including trips to Ripon, Lincoln and Truro Cathedrals.

Upon leaving Southwell, Daniel was appointed Organist at All Saints Parish Church in Carshalton, and more recently Director of Music there. He is Choral Director of Carshalton Schola Cantorum as well as the Parish Choir at All Saints. He accompanies the Polyphony Choir of St Bartholomew's Church in Norbury and is a freelance organist and teacher in the south London and north Surrey area and as such has recently played in Guildford, Rochester and Chelmsford Cathedrals, as well as performing recitals in Carshalton, Swanage and Peterskirche in Vienna. Daniel is organist for the newly formed Sutton Chorale, who toured Minden, Nordrhein-Westfalen in August 2009. His future engagements include appearances in Calgary, Alberta, as well as at Shrewsbury Abbey, Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin and Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk, Bruges.
